The late 70's saw a time of incredible innovation, when suddenly guitars being made overseas were arguably better quality than the "original" brands being made here in the states at the time. The "Prime Vintage" series draws inspiration from those sought-after clones based on timeless classics.

An ode to the vintage workhorse

In the wake of the singer/songwriter boom of the 1970's, acoustic guitars reached an uprecedented culmination. Major advances in pickup technology were taking place, where many brands began offering factory installed electronics. Truss rods were adopted industry-wide. Laminated back & sides became common practice to stretch yeild and lower environmental impact. Urethane finishes were adopted by many brands as an alternative to the more tempermental nitrocellulose finish that had reigned as the standard topcoat for decades.

Many "advances" may be considered as cutting corners by some, but in many cases, such guitars have stood the trials of time, often times better than their high-dollar predecessors, and when taken care of, still look brand new 50 years later.

Our Prime Vintage series is the resurrection of guitars made during this zenith in guitar history. Each guitar is hand-crafted to be an instrument that will yield decades of music-making and story-telling.  This dependabilty brings an unrivaled peace-of-mind to the working musician, knowing his or her musical tool will always remain up to the task for years to come.

Vintage look, vintage build

Each great guitar build starts with a well quarter-sawn, solid wood top. Be it Sitka Spruce or Mahogany, each Morrison guitar features a solid top, paired with our high-yeild bracing, producing not only an excellent acoustic sound, but also allowing our tops to influence our Cadence pickup exactly how we want it to...

The vast majority of today's acoustic electronics are designed to produce virtually the same sound regardless of what guitar the pickup is installed in. To do this, the circuitry of the pickup must compress, saturate, and re-amplify frequencies over and over again. This leads to not only a lackluster and "stuffy" sound, but also lacks the ability to react in a fashion similar to the guitar. Our Cadence pickup offers the advantage of an active pickup while staying out of the way of the player, producing the best sounding and "feeling" acoustic pickup on the market today.

Our maple-bound neck creates a slick, fast feel, and also elevates the look of the guitar, paired with the maple dot fingerboard inlay. It is our feeling that a guitar that incorporates all wood and no plastic or synthentic materials lends itself to the timeless beauty of a Morrison guitar.
